Terms of Service
These terms govern the use of yt-autopilot, a private automation tool operated by its owner for the owner’s own YouTube channels.
1. What this software is
yt-autopilot is a self-hosted application that plans, produces and uploads videos to YouTube channels belonging to the person who operates it, and reads those channels’ performance data back in order to inform its later decisions. It runs on that person’s own computer.
2. It is not a public service
The application is not offered to the public. There is no account system, no sign-up, no subscription, nothing is sold, and no third party can connect a YouTube account to it. This website is informational: it exists so that the application’s purpose and data practices are publicly documented, as Google requires of an application that requests access to YouTube accounts.
If you are reading this page, you are not a user of the application and these terms impose no obligations on you. They set out the basis on which the operator runs it.
3. Who may use it
Only the operator may use the application, and only with YouTube channels that the operator owns and controls. Connecting a channel that belongs to somebody else, or that the operator is not authorised to publish to, is outside the permitted use of this software.
4. YouTube and Google terms
The application uses YouTube API Services. In using it, the operator agrees to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service and operates the application in accordance with the YouTube API Services Developer Policies and the Google API Services User Data Policy. Google’s own handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Where these terms and Google’s or YouTube’s terms conflict in respect of data obtained through YouTube API Services, Google’s and YouTube’s terms prevail.
5. Responsibility for published content
The application produces video content automatically, from synthetic narration and generated or abstract visuals. It films nothing and does not reuse third-party footage, music or images that it is not licensed to use.
Responsibility for everything published to a channel rests with the operator of that channel, not with the software. The operator is responsible for ensuring that published content complies with YouTube’s Community Guidelines, copyright law, and any disclosure obligations that apply to synthetic or AI-generated media. The application includes automated quality, originality and compliance checks, and those checks reduce risk; they do not transfer responsibility, and they are not a substitute for the operator’s own judgement.
6. Automation limits
The application will not publish to a channel unless the operator has explicitly configured that channel to permit it. A channel may be held in a state in which content is prepared but never uploaded, or uploaded privately only. These controls exist so that automation is a decision the operator makes deliberately, per channel, rather than a default.
7. No warranty
The software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. It is experimental. It may fail, may produce output its operator does not want, and may stop working when an external service it depends on changes.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, no liability is accepted for any loss or damage arising from use of the software, including lost revenue, lost data, removed videos, channel strikes or account suspension. The operator uses it at their own risk, on their own channels.
9. Third-party services
The application depends on third-party services, including Google and YouTube APIs and an AI text service. Those services are governed by their own terms, are not controlled by the operator, and may change, restrict or withdraw access at any time. Nothing here grants any right in respect of them.
10. Suspension and termination
The operator may disconnect any channel, stop the application, or delete its data at any time. Access granted at Google’s authorisation screen may be revoked at any time from myaccount.google.com/permissions, and the Privacy Policy explains what happens to stored data when that occurs.
11. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated. The effective date at the top of this page will change when they are.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator resides, and any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that place.
